Whats your Tech level?

Like Education I am still working on cracking the code on Tech level.

What I know so far is:

1. Your Sims Education plays a roll
2. You need to have a Community College in or near your Industrial Zone
3. You need to get your land value up in your Industrial Zone - Parks,Parks,Parks
4. Putting a College in or near your Industrial Zone will help

I  have the 3rd star with a college with NO upgrades...

Here is what I have so far...

Why should your Sims be smart?

Smart Sims:

1. Use less Water and Power
2. They produce less waste and more recyclables
3. They wont turn to crime so easy
4. They don't start as many fires
5. They stay healthy longer

So how do I get smart Sims???

Start teaching them early!!!! One of the first buildings you build in your new city should be a Grade School.
Remember just because you drop a School down it wont make a difference right away... It takes time for your Sims to learn.

I have several cities running now testing this and here is what I have so far.

You need 1 or 2 Libraries, 2 Grade Schools, 1 High School and a Community College.

I have a city with 8 Grade Schools and everything listed above and they are at the same education level; so don't waste your cash on too many schools.

With the listed setup I can get a "4 cap" rating.

I am adding a University next to see if I can get that 5th cap!!! Wish me luck.

Remember Education level is not the same as your tech level.

Not enough places to ship freight

Are you tired and confused from your Sims telling you that they Don't have enough places to ship freight?

To make this go away you need to do 2 things:

1. Build a Trade Depot and make sure you have enough Freight Shipping Warehouse space
2. Make sure you zone enough Commercial Zones

Your Industrial Sims like to export there product and sell locally. If you have a Trade Depot then they will be happy about export but you will still get this message if they cant sell to commercial Sims in your city!!

How to NOT run out of water!

To establish a unlimited water supply you must do 2 things:

1. Place a Sewage Treatment Plant in your city
2. Build your Water Pumping Station right next to your Sewage Treatment Plant
1. Make sure you leave room to expand your Sewage Plant

Your Sewage Plant will treat the sewage and put clean water back into the water table at that location; so your Water pump will never run out.

What if you want to keep land value up?

This will cost a bit more but you will preform the same steps listed above except you will place this all in your Industrial zone. To make the water clean you will need to use Filtration pumps instead of Basic water pumps.
